Dear Appliance Pros Repair ************: I own a Whirlpool Imperial Washer that does not drain. The model# is: LSA9900E0. S/N: 07585J826. It just started not draining. I have a Whirlpool Do-it-yourself repair manual. The manual says possible causes could be:

*Inlet Mixing valve bad
*Manifold Trap bad or plugged
*Filter bad or plugged
*Two-Way valve Solenoid bad
*Pump bad

Is there a way to tell which is the problem? The manual isn't very helpful in this regard. It just gives a general overview of what might be bad, not very specific about how to go about really diagnosing the problem. The washer is over 30 years old. Are there still parts available for this model? The manual is pretty good about explaining how to test and or repair the part that's in question. I'm fairly handy and I'd like to see if I can fix it before calling out a repairman. Thanks in advance!

Dear richappy: Thank you very much for your reply. I spoke to my mom more about her washing machine problem and she said the washer does NOT spin. I asked her if it agitates and she said it did. My repair manual says the problem might be, according to the problem flow chart: "Timer does not advance." What do you think? Any more ideas given this additional problem? Thank you.

Dear richappy: thanks again for your reply. I think your last answer is very probable. However, I can't find the lid switch! I have looked and looked and there doesn't seem to be one. The manual says there are two types, one on the side of the lid opening and the other type on the rear of the lid opening. Where else do you think the lid switch is? I asked my mom if it in the past it quit spinning when she lifted the lid and she said "yes," so there has to be a lid switch somewhere but I don't see it. Thanks.
