Opened my dryer to find a piece of clothing stuck behind the light cover and the other end stuck under one of the ribs??? on the barrel. I guess this prevented the barrel from turning. When I tried to start the dryer, the lights on the controls would work but the drum would not turn. No wierd sounds, it just would not start turning. Not sure if any heat created.

What repair/parts could this indicate?

Hi.

Most likely the thermal fuse is blown. If you open the toe panel you can find it on the blower housing. Check it with the multimeter for continuity (with one wire off).

The fuse Part number: 3392519
Part number: 3392519

Don't forget to unplug the dryer while checking.

Here are the breakdown diagrams and Replacement parts for Whirlpool YWED9550WL1 ELECTRIC DRYER | AppliancePartsPros.com

Thank you. Post the results.

Simon.

Hi.

Check the dryer for air flow blockage, clean the vents.

Ten days later, dryer does not work again.
Again, the drum does not spin.

Vent was clean.

Now what?

Just had service man in to check it.

He checked all those and said they all were fine. So he concluded that it was the main electrical board (I can't remember what he called it).

Sound reasonable?

Looking at a week to order and deliver:(
