Freezer is registering less than minus 10 Celsius, refrigerator is at 53.6 F. Sears repairman replaced the evap motor in the freezer compartment. The new motor turned too fast and made a lot of noise - too loud to hear anyone speaking. The outer sides of the fridge became overheated almost too hot to touch.

There was no difference in the freezer temperature and the refrigerator remained warm.

We had to change the evap motor back to the old motor ourselves before they could send another repairman in four days later.

The second repairman insisted the problem was indeed the evap motor and put it back in. An hour after he left we experienced the same problem. Again we had to put the old motor back in. The manufacture of the new motor was not the same as the one they tried to replace - 2 different reference #'s. The original was Swiss made and the other one US make.

No refund from Sears and we have lost faith in their ability to repair it.

I have checked and cleaned the coils, and the fan at the bottom rear - both the original evap motor fan and the fan at the bottom are clean and appear to be working and in good order.

I cannot find a manual.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hello Voltar,

I saw your post today and wanted to reach out to you to offer our assistance. My name is Mike and I am a member of the Sears Social Media Support team. I am very sorry to see that you are having so much trouble with your refrigerator. We understand how important it is to have your refrigerator working properly, as it contains your food, drinks, and medicines. Additionally, I know that having multiple technicians out for the same part has made you lose confidence in our ability to service your appliance. We would very much like to assist you with the repairs necessary to restore your refrigerator to its proper working order. If you would allow us the opportunity, we would like to connect you with a dedicated case manager to monitor the repair process going forward and to ensure that your refrigerator is successfully repaired. At your convenience, please contact our office via email at smadvisor@searshc.com so you don’t have to be upset by this any longer. In the email, please provide a contact number and the phone number the refrigerator was purchased under (if different than the contact phone number) and we will call you directly. In addition, please include your Screen name (Voltar) in the email for reference to your issue. Again, we’re sorry for any trouble we have caused and we hope to talk to you soon.

Thank you,

Mike D.

It is common for the motor support gromets to get soft and fail to support the motor properly. The new motor might be a bit smaller and cause vibration.
I usually just add additional gromets to the existing ones.

If the outside of the fridg gets hot,you might also have a bad condensing fan motor in the back.
