The start relay is most likely bad. Unplug the refrigerator, the start relay plugs into the side of the compressor. Remove it and shake it, if it rattles when you shake it, it is bad and needs replacing. Refrigerator repair guide

The relay does not rattle. We put in another relay just to be sure and it does the same thing.

The cover off the back of the freezer. Once off you should see coils, there should be frost on the coils. Tell us if the frost is heavy or light and if it cover the entire coils or not. Alos does the fan in the freezer run?

You have a sealed system problem such as bad compressor, short on gas, or clogged capillary tube. Any of which are major repair jobs.
