I recently was doing a major cleaning of my fridge and since then it seems to leak during the defrost cycle. Water seems to collect at the bottom of the freezer compartment and freeze, then later water seems to come out of the door at the bottom of the gasket and from under it. We do have an icemaker and water dispenser. The inside back of the dispenser seems to be frozen inside.

brakebill Most likely the problem with your fridge is a clogged and frozen drain. Remove the bottom shelves from the freezer and you'll find the drain on the back under the evaporator coil. Using the hair dryer defrost it and run a couple cups of hot water though the drain. Good luck. Gene.

Reply from brakebill through email: ***************************** Thanks Gene, Using the Hairdryer and hot water seems to have done the trick. Its been 24 hrs and no leak.

I have the same refrigerator (we got ours in 2001). We have had the same problem with freezer. I had an appliance guy come out today and tell me the doors were recalled. Call GE (1800-GECARES) and they will set out up an appointment He told me to look under the seal in the freezer and see if there were any nails - which there are on our model and then they offered me two new doors free or a $500.00 credit for a new fridge. Hope this helps!
