Replaced defrost thermostat, but defrost cycle partially melts ice every few hours.

What is the next step?

Hi.

Please check the model number. The one you posted doesn't come on.

Simon.

The model number is correct: FR23LH5D59 -- but I see from the product label that it was made in 2005, so it is more than the five years old I thought.

I see I left out a digit in my reply -- but the original number is correct: FR523LH5D59

My apologies! The number is FRS23LH5D (The FRS looked like a FR5)

Wow! Wrong again, and for the same reason: the "S" on the label looks like a "5".

This the the model number (copied from your model list): FRS23LH5DS9

Was thanked: 4 time(s) in 4 post(s)
Just to add my 2 cents...

There are two major parts of the defrost cycle: temperature and time. While the temperature controls by the defrost thermostat, the Adaptive Defrost Control board controls the time. I would recommend to replace the ADC board in such situation.
