The Receptacle that attaches one of the heating elements broke. As my son was moving the element around to make a connection sparks shot out. I flicked off the circuit breaker, unplugged the case that holds both elements, opened it, replaced both receptacle's and new elements. I turned on the circuit breaker and even though the unit that holds both elements is not plugged in yet, and both of the Infinite switches are off, the led light is on indicating that one or both of the heating elements are on. Plugging in the unit that holds both heating elements makes no difference. If I remove the unit on the left side of the range that holds the hot plates and plug in the unit from the troubled side which holds the elements it works fine on the left side. So I have a problem with the right side which is keeping the led light on and no power to the terminal block that the unit plugs into. What do you think the problem could be?

There's only one red LED but there are two switches for the elements on the right side. Are they wired in series? If I disconnect one will I be able to determine which one is bad, and is it likely that two went at the same time?

I ask this because I replaced both elements and both receptacles in the draw. Led light is on, and no power. If I plug the repaired draw into the left side of the range it works fine. So the repairs to the receptacles were done correctly.

I understand that it's unlikely that both switches are burned out. That's why I asked if they are wired in parallel because neither one now works. If they're not wired in parallel and one shorts out will that stop the other one from working? Because the led light is on and neither element will work.

Is the fact that the led light is on because of a shorted switch stopping the other one from working?

I'll buy the two switches if that's what it takes to fix the problem, just don't want to do that and find out that there is a relay or some other park that's the culprit.
