Our 2 year old LG LMV2083ST microwave decided to stop working last night. It's definitely something wrong with the safety latch mechanism. You can use the keyboard and enter everything just fine, but pushing the Start button doesn't do anything. Jiggling the door and/or pulling it down slightly does the trick after a couple tries and the Start button works normally.

From looking at the parts list, I'm guessing either the door spring is stretched out or one or more of the micro switches is defective. Or at least the contact point that engages them. At least these are inexpensive parts although I don't know how difficult replacing them will be.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

~ Chris
p.s. Love the forum. Pls add LG to the dropdown list of brand names.

Just noticed that after hitting Start, the timer counts down to zero even though the microwave isn't working. Seems like that would narrow things down the microswitches...
