I'm uncertain about wire connections for a replacement defrost timer
for Magic Chef MCBR1020W. The new timer (dbyc1003BL) has
terminal located and color coded in this sequence:
1 Blue -
2 Red -
3 Brown -
4 Black -
where 3 Brown switches from 4 Black to 2 Red when cam is turned.

The old timer (dbyc1608AL) has terminal located with colored wires in
this sequence:
2 Orange -
1 Yellow -
4 Blue -
3 White -
where 1 Yellow switches from 2 Orange to 4 Blue when cam is turned.

The old timer seems to be defective such that refrigerator will not
defrost ( coils completely iced up after 5-7 days. then refrig starts to
run continuously ). But refrig will defrost when timer cam turned
mechanically.

The physical layout for the old and new timers might be mirror images
of each other as shown here:

However the old timer is defective so the switching terminals may
have changed from its original configuration.

Hence the question: should the wires be connected in mirror image
fashion or rather numerically the same, ie 1 to 1; 2 to 2, 3 to 3; 4 to 4?

Was thanked: 2 time(s) in 2 post(s)
Ignore the new timer color coding, the internal timer internal wiring must be the same as the old one, so just wire it up per the original timer wiring.
