MDG5500AWW model Neptune Maytag Gas Dryer. Ignites fine when cold but does not stay warm. It starts out fine, but soon gas shuts off and does not re-ignite. This happens on sensor dry setting or timed setting.

I check the vent on the outside of the house and flaps on vent are extended (open) when dryer is running so I do not suspect a clogged vent. Well, at least I know it is not totally clogged.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance....

Hi,

I would suspect the coils on the gas valve are at fault and need to be replaced.

Your model uses gas valve coil, Part number: 279834

I replaced the coils tonight. Igniter glows, ignites the gas, it burns for a little bit, then goes out. If it continues to run, it will reignite but only burn gas for about 5-10 seconds and then goes out.
