I have a GE Profile microwave. I put a can of peanut butter with a tad left over metal foil left on the rim. It sparked and lit up like the 4th of July for about 6 seconds. Now it HUMS really loud and won't heat. Is it a goner?

Try unplugging it for half an hour or so.
If that does nothing then I would say that the magnetron is shot and I would replace the unit.
