Dryer Control Panel Stuck On One Cycle & Temp Setting

Thought I had the problem licked with the parts I ordered, but no luck. The problem history and action taken are described below: Symptoms:
Dryer would occasionally stop, showing an "E1" error on display. When "E1" was not showing, dryer console would stay stuck in the cycle, "Cottons/Towels" and stuck temperature selection, "High." Attempting to select a different (auto or timed) cycle and temperature would result in "beep," with no change or response to any cycle/temp selection. Pressing "Cancel" extinguishes all console lights, but they come back on in the same state once you release the "Cancel" button. With these symptoms, the dryer will operate and dry clothes. When the cycle is complete per timer setting, the lights go out momentarily, them come back on, remaining stuck in the cycle described above. Cycling the circuit breaker does not clear the symptom, although, when the breaker power stays off long enough, turning it back on usually result in all console lights extinguished, but if you wait long enough or try to select a cycle/temp, the stuck cycle indication described above occurs.
Action Taken:
Thoroughly cleaned lint out of the dryer. Wiped around thermistor and thermal fuse on blower housing. Reassembled and powered up dryer. Same console lights, but "E1" no longer occurs. Continuity reading on thermal fuse is good. The thermistor read ~0.68M ohms. Ordered the following parts:
4. Measured and compared rating on new thermistor: new ~9.8k ohms.
5. Installed thermistor first, then powered up. Console worked properly for a second, but started erratic beeps with each selection, and eventually went back to the above-described problem state.
6. Installed the control board, powered up and, to my surprise, the same problem persisted. Replacing the board had no effect on problem.
So, does anyone have some ideas as to what's going on here? Is there a service mode to put this thing in? Might I be looking at testing some other sensors?
Thanks in advance, and sorry for the long post - just wanted to be as clear as possible.

Here is the tech sheet, should help if you do not already have it http://www.servicematters.com/d...0Sheet%20-%208541836.pdfI would check the keyboard with your meter, might be a stuck key. Also I would clean the connectors going to the control board. You can use electronics cleaner or isopropyl alcohol and a tooth brush, just be sure the unit is unplugged and all the solvent has evaporated before reconnecting. A bit of a long shot but worth a try. |

Using it to check the keypad, the "Towels/Cotton" key was "stuck." I immediately ordered a replacement, installed yesterday and everything works perfectly. So, I guess I'll have to swallow the control board.... If I had only found the tech sheet first....
