The refrigerator temperature was fluctuating between 42 and 54 degrees when the freezer was at minus 8 degrees so I got a new damper assembly for the refrigerator and replaced the old one. Now the customer called and stated that the refrigerator teperature is 54 degrees and fluctuating and the freezer is reading minus 13 degrees at one time and another time plus degree reading.
Could it be that the compressor is not running all the time so the temperature is not correct? Or what do you think the problem could be? I have to go back to look at this refregerator on Friday September 11,2009 and I do not want to make another trip to this home unless it's a compressor replacement; so I need all the helpful suggestions from you good guys on what to look for to solve this problem. Thank you.

Go to the "sticky" GE refrigerator GS&PS models) and then to "damper motor test" Test the thermistors per the instructions, J1 connector on upper right of the motherboard. Also, if the old damper assembly motor was bad, then it took out the motherboard damper motor driver and you will need a new motherboard.
