Another update, just to inform that my dishwasher is running very well after all of my detective work above. Again, I suspect the crack in the membrane on the plastic panel shorted the start button on the user interface. I replaced both the panel and user interface and the internet store I purchased the interface from even reimbursed me $35 for "recycling/returning" my bad interface. Most companies or services do not provide this reimbursement or service.

Just wanted to provide a quick update. The dishwasher worked fine up until last weekend when it powered out again. UGH!!! The Thermal Fuse Blew! Charred on one side. As a safeguard, I also checked the thermistor and the hi-temp thermostat; those were fine.

Rec'd parts today from Appliance Pros and put the new fuse in and it is working again. I figure another $125 saved from service call and upcharged parts.

I've told my husband that all the money I am saving from doing the work myself is going toward a really good dishwasher when this one finally does kick the bucket!!!:D
