When I turn the knob, the washer will not fill with water. But when I put knob on spin cycle, it spins. Do I need a timer, or is there something else wrong? It spins only.:(

The washer does not agitate because there is no water. Check the water source first. Then check for continuity the coils on the water inlet valve (#18 on the controls and rear panel break down diagram). If any of the coil is open, replace the water inlet valve. If there is nothing wrong, check for 120V coming to each coils when the timer calls for water. If there is proper power, then possible the screens inside the water valve are clogged. In such case it's better to replace the water inlet valve then clean the screens. If there is no power - replace the timer. - The part number for the water inlet valve is Part number: AP3094541

We installed the timer, and it still did not do anything. We took the timer back and purchased the valve today. The washer filled up with water, which it was not doing before, but it will not go to the next cycle. What should we try next?

Now I would check the lid switch. Open the control panel, unplug the lid switch harness plug and check for continuity across the gray wires. With the lid closed the circuit should be closed. Replace the lid switch if it's open. - New lid switch and step by step instructions on how to replace the lid switch: Part number: AP3100003

I have the same problem, I think. I replaced the lid switch because it was broke and that fixed the problem of not spinning. That seemd to create a new problem though. I put the machine back together and now it won't fill with water. I hear the timer working but nothing happens. I noticed that after I connected the two molex type connectors (one to the timer and one to the lid switch), there was one connector still unmated. The wires from that connector are pink, purple and tan. They are bundled up with the wires that are coming from the timer. Being a novice, I didn't think to look where that connector might have been connected too (if it was even connected to something), but I still don't see it's mate anywhere. Ground is connected also. This wire harness plug should be connected to the water level switch, usually on the left side of the control panel.
