this dryer has always had problems with the rotary start switch. At first it would stay on all the time. You had to move the controll button to the end of the cycle to get it to stop. So, a few days ago the rotary switch stoped. I ordered a new one. I installed it. I tryed to use the dryer. If you trun the stwich it will start. It will not stay on unless you hold the switch in place. What do I need to do next. Is the rotary switch bad or do I need to replace another part.

Unfortunately when this happens it is sometimes the switch, but most of the time it is the motor. Given that you have replaced the switch your motor is the likely problem. Given the age of the machine you may want to consider a new or good used dryer.

Good luck, sorry for the bad news.
