Ice maker making ice but not dispensing thru door. Water works, ice door opens, motor hums for short time then stops. no ice comes out.

remove the front panel and check to see if the plastic brackets holding the sensor may have broken which allows the sensor to slip out of it's position. It happened to me after spending $$ replacing a dispensing motor which id not solve the problem. I found a lot of older posts mentioning this bracket failure on the Whirlpool Frig, but it took days to get a reply from this thread....good luck:cool:

HellO! I am wondering of how to get the trim off of the ice/water dispenser on the freezer door?? As I see that frost/ice had build up around the openings inside the freezer and bottom of the ice maker. Which I have found that the ice door is broken (1 tab broke off that holds the pin and spring). So how do I get the trim off? And also what else is needed to be done to replace the whole part?
I have Whirlpool freezer/refrigerator (side by side doors)..
