I have a Whirlpool Cabrio that is 4 yrs old and constantly get the F1 error code. I cannot reset it and have a hard time cancelling the load and restarting. I hear that this error is very common....what needs to be done to fix it and is it more cost effective to buy another washer?

That error code is for a failure of the primary control board.
You will need to replace it to be sure of the diagnosis.
