The machine cycles throught each cycle and stops showing 7 minutes on the display without an error code. Before stopping and showing seven minutes it flucuates between 7 and 8 minutes on the display. Thoughts?

I am guessing that the motor control board has failed. Maytag has re-engineered this part and now sells a combined motor - motor control replacement. See this tech sheet

It is possible that the problem is elsewhere, for example in the central control unit, but this part is the most likely problem. If you do decide to go this route, have your serial number available and call APP or whomever you purchase the part from to make certain you get the right kit for your machine.

Good luck

Thanks for the help/suggestion.

Is this an FYI job...does this site carry the part to your knowledge?

The part is available for APP and while I an a volunteer and not associated with them I think they almost always have the lowest price and fastest delivery, and their delivery charge is very low. I would call them to make certain you get the right part for your machine.

Read through the service manual and see if you think your skills are sufficient for the repair. They should be. This manual is for an earlier version of the Neptune but is updated with supplements for your model.

Good luck.
