Hello,

New to the forum here and looking for help. I have a Whirlpool Duet dryer model number GEW9260PW0. The sensing light comes on, then there's a click and no joy. It just sits there. I have checked the thermal fuse and it is OK. The door switch is OK. The moisture sensor beeps as well. The belt is not broken. I did test #2 Motor Circuit Test and when I measured resistance across P1-3 and P1-4 on the control board nothing happens I just get a "1". Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Check the broken belt switch (under the idler pulley) for continuity.

If there is nothing wrong, replace the motor.

Gene,

Thanks for your quick response. I checked the belt switch and it is OK. I pulled the control board and when I looked underneath sure enough there is a burn mark by one of the motor (relay?) solder connections. So ... I suppose I should replace the board. But, what might have caused it to fail? Bad motor? I went to do the motor test on the tech sheet but cannot find the White/Orange wire or the Violet wire. I am using tech sheet number 8530064. Thanks for your help .... again!

What are the colors of all wires?

According to the wiring diagram for this dryer there is no motor relay at the control board, so this is something else with the damaged soldering.

The burn mark is directly under the part marked "motor." It is a square shaped black module to the left of the part marked heater that black and red wires plug into. The module with the burn mark underneath it at the solder on the circuit board is labeled OMRON G8P-1A4P 12VDC 2245H3.

As far as the motor in concerned, I only see the wires from the winding in the motor that attach to the connectors where the harness plugs into.

Well, looks like the major problem so far is a bad control board. I don't think the motor continuity test will show anything wrong, but you have to check the current drawn by the motor after you replace the control board. If it's more than 5.9 amps then the motor is bad too.
