I have a Roper/Whirlpool rex5634kq0 electric dryer that I need to replace the door switch. I found the part here and will be ordering, what I need to know is how to take the #&#(@&%) thing apart :-)

I can't seem to find a repair or disassembly guide for this. It would be nice if I could just yank the front off of it, but I don't think I can.

Well, it's not intuitively obvious, but it is easy.

Take out the lint filter. You will see two phillips head screws which you will take out. Carefully pry up the top from the front and it will flip up and back, giving you access to the door switch. If you need to take off the front, you can do so by taking out two screws at the top that hold it on.

While you are doing all this take the opportunity to take off the back and clean out the machine with an air blower or a vac. Be sure to clean out the venting system from where the lint filter goes. This will save you a lot of problems down the road.

Thanks for the tip, it did indeed pop right open. Even better, I'm not going to have to wait for a part! It turns out that Whirlpool just glued the two halves of this switch together, and the glue has simply melted away, causing the switch to separate.

One application of Gorilla Glue will forever fix that problem! Muaha! Thank you for the assistance!!
