When I pull the start switch to start cycle the washer hums but will not start. The humming is not coming from the control panel but is coming from under the tub. It does this no matter what cycle or part of a cycle I dial to.

Had a "motor/gearcase Coupler" replaced 60 days ago. I feel something is binding either in the motor or the gearcase.

Can you advise me?

Hi Frank

What you will need to do is the take components off of the motor until you come to the source of the problem

1. Take off the cabinet, by-pass the lid switch and take off the pump. Put the machine in spin mode and see if the motor turns freely. If it does check the pump and drain hoses for problems. Check to see if the pump is free.

2. If the pump/drain area is not the problem, take off the motor, leaving the connection on and put the machine in spin mode. See if the motor turns. If not not replace the motor.

3. If the motor seems ok, try to turn the transmission in each direction. If it is difficult to turn counterclockwise, the transmission is probably binding. If it difficult to turn clockwise, the brakes may be stuck.

Good luck, let us know what you find out.
