My GE side-by-side freezer stopped working a few weeks ago and a local reputable repairman told me over the phone that he was sure that the control board needed to be replaced. Well, I installed a new control board a few days ago and the freezer has not stopped running since. The freezer fan doesn't even stop automatically when I open the door like it used to before the problems occurred.
The compressor and surrounding tubing is also extremely hot. I'm assuming this is due to the fact that it hasn't had a break since I installed the new board. This may be normal but I didn't notice the heat being this intense before. The temperature of the freezer itself also doesn't seem to be as cold now, either. Does anyone have any idea about what's going on? (Note: the freezer and fridge are empty. I'm not sure if this has any effect on the situation.)
FYI: The GE board I installed is model WR55X10552. The shop I bought it from assured me this was the correct control board from my GE refrigerator.
Thanks in advance for any and all help.

You have refrigeration system problems for a pro to look at, unless your condensing fan is bad. Sounds like your system developed a leak. Your condensing fan and evaporator fan should be turning whenever the compressor is running.
