Our electric dryer wasn't running so we replaced the thermal fuse and it began to run again. I had noticed that it was running very hot and may have even burned a pair of pants it looks like a burn stain. The fuse has blown again. When we replaced the fuse the first time we cleaned out the The lint filter and the duct that goes to outside and made sure it wasn't obstructed. What could be the cause of the overheating and could that also be causing it to blow fuses? Thank you.:confused:

A very common cause of a dryer running hot is a clogged or restricted vent system.

Would that also make the thermal fuse continuously blow and how would I go about making sure the entire vent system is unclogged?

The thermal fuse will open at a predetermined temperature. It's a safety component that helps protect the more expensive components of the dryer. Along with this is the high limit thermostat. It would be a good idea to also check it. Clear out as much lint as you can see and feel inside the dryer's vent system. Then do the same with that of the house. After all is clear, run the dryer and go to the exterior vent to ascertain a good vent air flow.
