If the noise you're hearing is the compressor trying to start and the overload then kicking it off you may have a compressor problem. Depending on the age of the unit, you may want to get a hold of an authorized servicer, the compressor may still be under warranty.

The one you listed isn't a valid #. I can get you a price for the part, but the labor piece will vary. It it will expensive though. Just guessing but, somewhere between $350 up to $600. You'll need to pull the unit out from the wall and get behind it. There is a fan back there that keeps the comp running cool, make sure it's running. When you're back there, if you wait a few minutes, if it's the comp you'll hear it try and start. If it's already running when you're back there, then you can probably rule it out. From your description it does sound like it though.

HELP If the compressor isn't running it will sure affect both sections. Have you done what I mentioned in my previous post? Below is the part number for the compressor and price is $248.83. You'll have to check with local servicers to find out how much they would charge you for the installation if that is the problem. Part number: AP3179960
