The ice maker in my Frigidaire side by side refridgerator has stopped dispensing cubed ice - it now only dispenses crushed ice even if the "cubed" button is pushed. What is wrong and how do I fix it? Model number is PLHS69EESSN.

Hello, This is usually caused by a control rod not properly in place in the solenoid actuator. The other possibility is either the solenoid is frozen or failed, or the switch at the dispenser is out of position or been saturated by beverages splattered by ice dispensed into a full glass. You see, the unit will dispense crushed ice unless the solenoid activates the bin to move the diverter, allowing the cubes to dispense around the crusher blades. Without this activation, the cubes are always forced into the crusher blades.

I found an easy solution. First, empty all the ice out. Spin the auger to right as far as it will go. Look at the end of the auger where a blade like thing is. Once you move the auger as far as it will go, you will see an opening now. Put the basket back in, make some ice, and it should work. My Fridigaire Side By Side owners manual says to do this and it worked! I emptied my ice basket last week and all I got was crushed. I must have moved the auger to the closed position by accident. In the closed position, you will only get crushed ice. If the auger is slightly off, this will also only produce crushed ice because cubes cannot fit though the opening.:)

I ended up having ice stuck near the auger where it exists into the dispenser. Took ice out, emptied the dispenser, dried it off and it worked
