hello.
This morning we ran a bottle of that "finish" dishwasher cleaner in the dishwasher, and about halfway through the cycle, my wife noticed water all over the kitchen floor.

While I really liked how well it appears to have cleaned the dishwasher, I'm concerned that it may have done something to the seals/gaskets, or worse still, it cleaned something that simply shows that the seals and gaskets have finally worn out
Is there a way to find out which?

Thank you in advance.

Remove the kick plate and run another cycle to see if it still leaks.
A flashlight will help here.
If the "finish" created a lot of bubbles/foam then it would be normal that it leaks.

Leave the kick plate off for at least a couple days. You want to dry it out under the unit or your floor will rot.
If you have small kids or animals flip the breaker off or unplug the unit (depends on how it was installed) to be sure that no one gets hurt.

You did not say why you ran this stuff but in my opinion it is just a lot of marketing. A pint of vinegar in the main wash cycle would probably do as good a job. Appliance stores do sell dishwasher cleaner which is basically oxalic acid crystals and vinegar is also just a mild acid. You add it manually at the start of the main wash, let it circulate some than stop the wash, let it sit for 15 minutes, let it circulate again, then let it sit again and then complete the cycle.

Now for an anecdote.
My daughter complained about the inside of her dishwasher being grungy inside and not doing a very good job.
As with most kids she did not listen to the old man the first time but complained again a year later about it again. I told her to stop using the tablets and use the standard dish washing powder. After a week the inside of the unit is clean and the unit now washes dishes correctly.

If you are using powder and are getting a film build up just use less powder.

Note: The newer low phosphate powder is not as good as the standard powder.
