The freezer is cold at the bottom, a little frozen, but the refrigerator is warm, the fan is running in the freezer, but is there a fan in the refrigerator? I really need help on this, if anyone can give me the answers, I looked for a repair manual on the net, but could find none, I am 80 years old (female) and have no one to help, and repair is so expensive I cannot afford it, I would like to try and repair it myself, I put a fan on an older model ref. a few years ago and it was still working when I bought this new on. thank you glenna

It is likely the defrost system for the evaporator coils, which consists of the adaptive defrost board (located in the fridge under the top control cover - where the lights and temp controls are at) and the heater/thermostat assembly (located behind the covers on the back wall of the freezer). Neither of the two are that expensive.
I just went through this with my Maytag side-by-side (6 yrs.old). My problem was the heater/thermostat assembly.
Are you prepared to remove panels that are not the easiest to get to? It is not that hard, but you do need tools that will reach the back of the narrow freezer, and it can be somewhat of a pain to drop the control cover in the fridge.
If you have the tools and are willing to dig in to it, hopefully somewhat more experienced than I will jump and coach you along. I am a newbie to appliance repair.
