Local Sears store went out of business and the owner asked if i would like some of the appliances that they were throwing away, obviously i said yes. So now i have a microwave that does nothing when you hit start. I usually keep to washers, dryera and refrigerators so i'm wondering where to begin.

Hello.

It's sounds like the problem is with door switches.
When you close the door the interlock switches tells to the control board that it's OK to start the high side.
Open the control panel and locate the switches on the left.
Without the power check switches for continuity with door open and closed.
Do not forget to take the wires of. (Mark them too.)

PS Before testing switches, see if they are engaging by the door latch.
Maybe it's only an adjustment matter.

Post the results. Thank you.
