My dryer has heat but doesn't spin. I pulled the motor and had it tested and it spins when power is put to it. I checked terminals 1 to 2 and there was 120 V. I checked resistance between 4 and 6 on the motor and got 2.8 ohms. Resistance between 4 and 6 was 1 ohm with the disc pulled. Any ideas?

I could not find any info on a SQD, please check it. There is info on a SQ0 which follows. Here are your parts Replacement parts for Whirlpool WED5540SQ0 29"ELECTRIC DRYER | AppliancePartsPros.comSee the attachment for the tech sheet. The motor sounds OK. But I would check one more thing on it. You will see in the wiring diagram that the motor has 2 centrifugal switches. They activate when the motor gets close to operating speed. One is for the motor's start winding, it disconnects start winding which will overheat the motor if left in circuit The other connects in the heating coil, this ensures that the heater does not come on until there is air flow. Check that this switch is open when the motor is stopped. Since the motor does not run but you have heat the problem may be elsewhere. Check that the heating coil is not grounded. Check the heating coil. Unplug the unit and both wires to the coil. Check it with a meter, should be around 10 to 12 ohms. Then check from each side of the coil to the case/frame, both should be infinite ohms (open). If not the coil may have sagged or broken and is touching the case. This can cause it to run on high and the thermostats cannot regulate it so the thermal fuse can blow. Check that the thermal fuse on the blower is OK (0 ohms). |

Where is the thermal fuse for the blower? I've replaced the thermal fuse for the heater coil.

I checked the coil as you said. It does appear grounded to the case and is registering 5 ohms from either side of the coil to the case of the coil. By the way, where is the thermal fuse for the blower? Is this on the motor? It is an SQ0.
