Hi, first time posting here. Hope someone can help me!
Just got back from vacation and found everything in our freezer and fridge thawed. Compressor and condensor fan working ok. Evaporator line and evaporator in rear of freezer get a thick layer of ice/frost on them and the evaporator fan is not running when door switch is depressed. Defrost cycle works when manually activated via pressing fridge door switch repeatedly. Heating element gets red hot and thaws everything. Defrost cycle runs through and the compreesor and condensor fan kick back on and evaporator resumes freezing up with ice build up. Dusted off rear condensor coils so they are clean.
Does this sound like maybe a bad defrost thermostat? The automatic defrost cycle does not seem to be working. Could that mean a bad (ADC) Adaptive Defrost Control? Could either of these prevent the evaporator fan from running? or could the fan be bad as well?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The first thing I would do is check the evaporator fan motor for continuity, how freely it's moving and if there is 120 VAC to the motor. If the voltage reading is correct then the problem is a bad motor. If there is no proper voltage then the problem is a bad Adaptive Defrost Control. - The evaporator fan motor Part number: AP3845420
