I've taken the drum from the dryer and have the bushing out. It is cracked and badly worn. I've seen that I can buy an complete Rear Drum Bearing kit but it's nearly 50 bucks. Can't I just buy an new bushing ( it's plastic or some synthetic) ? If I knew where to get it, it should not be more than $4 or $5 dollars.?

Please advise.

I am all for saving folks money,(which is one motivation of volunteering to reply on this site) but on these GE's I think the better course is to get the full kit and replace it and be done with it. This is a weak spot on GE dryers and I think you will be far happier going ahead and installing the rear bearing kit.

Good luck.
