I have checked the defrost heater and thermostat and have arrived at the conclusion that the adaptive defrost board (ADB) is bad. Having watched a Maytag technician replace one once before, it appears that a number of components have to be removed to get at the ADB. Your diagram shows all the parts very clearly, but it does not indicate which ones have to be removed and in what order. Can you give me any guidance on this.
Thanks!

First try to force a defrost by turning the control inside the refrigerator off, then on, three times within 6 seconds. If it goes into defrost, the ADB is not the problem. If it does not go into a forced defrost, just drop the control panel down by loosening 5 screws (3 at the perimeter of the housing, and two near the light bulbs. The housing should now pull slightly forward and down. The ADB is inside a plastic shroud about the dimension of an index card, and about an inch thick. It unplugs directly from the wiring harness.
