You are welcome Jody. I'm glad your refrigerator is back in business.

^^ Thanks Gene. I spoke to someone in the area (appliance repair guy) and he seemed pretty certain that the thermostat is likely the culprit (said he sees it often). I'll swap the thermostat and see how that goes. If that doesn't fix it, I'll follow your troubleshooting steps further.

Thanks again!

Tom

Gene, since you're around, would you know offhand where it would be located? Here's a link to a breakdown http://www.****************.com/index.php?ma...agram_id=94958, and # 30 is the thermostat, but there is no thermostat on the diagram. I'm sure it'll take me no time to find it anyway, but if I do know exactly where to look to begin with it'd make things quicker still : )

where you see ****, it should be ****************.... dunno why it did that
Cheers

The defrost thermostat should be on or around the evaporator, behind the rear panel in the freezer.

I have replaced the main control board and the upper thermistor.I jumped the control board and the heater glowed red. My freezer coils are still icing up. What else could be causeing this? I have a GE side by side. Please help!

Hi Gene,
Been in circles with our GE Profile freezer bottom the last month or so... About 6 weeks ago our fridge got warm, freezer was fine. Repair guy switched out the main board / 24 hr defrost and it worked for fine for a month. Then we had the same problem. This time he says the main board is fine but, can't find the problem. Cool air comes through to the fridge only when the freezer is open. We've cleared all food so nothing is blocking... Any ideas?

THANK YOU!

What is the complete model number of the refrigerator?
