I have a whirlpool French-door freezer-on-the-bottom model. The ice maker works great, but water is leaking onto the bottom of the freezer and freezing solid.

Hi.
You will have to determine where exactly it is leaking from. May be the fill tube end is touching the icemaker wall, the icemaker itself is leaking, or it's overfilling a bit. There is an adjustment screw on the side of the head. Pull of the cover and you will be able to see it.Do half a turn at the time.
Post the results.

I don't know what a "head" is.

The head is a rectangular end of the icemaker with all the gears and controls inside. To get to the adjusting screw pull off the white cover. You should see it on the side of the icemaker.

We are having the same problem in our 2 year old unit. It is in a rental property so it clearly has been happening for some time. There is over an inch of ice in the bottom and water spots under the unit from it leaking out. Im pretty sure it doesn't happen when the ice maker is turned off. Need to get it fixed for the new tenants. HELP!
