GE Over the Range Microwave - Model JVM1650WH05 _ Manufactured Oct 2006 Problem 1: Turns on by itself. Must Unplug to stop. Turns on at random times and after using. Problem has persisted for 1 year. Called GE in regard to Fire Hazard. They could care less. They want unreasonable price to even come out and take a look. They say to go ahead and burn house to ground. We must unplug every time we leave house. Problem 2: After continuing to use with problem # 1, the unit will now no longer microwave. The user enters cook time wherein the unit attempts to start, but then immediately stops. The Keyboard display lights up in all fields and becomes unreadable before stopping completely. My thought is that either the Control Panel or Door Switch are the culprit. I would have hoped that GE would have suggested either, but their Customer No Service Department proves that I will NEVER have another GE appliance in my home. In the interim, however, I want to fix the the microwave I have on-hand. As I imagine the Control Panel may be a bit expensive, I am looking for opinions before I attempt the fix:
- Does my theory in regard to the Control Panel & Door Switch make sense? Which of the 2 is more likely the cause.
- Is it possible that the symptoms above could be caused by a bad magnetron tube?
Thanks in adance.

Does anybody have an answer to the above? 95 Views and no answer.
I think I will start with the least expensive fix: The door switch.
I am reading that you have to take the unit off the wall and remove the metal case to test the switch. However, you can replace the switch with the unit on the wall and only removing the grill and control panel to gain access.
Can anyone confirm? Better, is there a video link to replacing the Door Switch?

Anybody?
Should I repace only the top switch (Most likely culprit) versus replacing the bottom swith too?
Also, there seems to be a 3rd switch... What is function of 3rd switch?
