I have a 1955 GE combination fridge and freezer that is need of it's first service call! The relay is gone, GE part # wr7x11. The Mars replacement is # 21310 and like the original is very hard to find! Does anyone know of a relay I could use instead? I would rather not use a 3in1, as every local guy tells me to. The original relay had 3 post's or pin's at the numbers 3, 4, and 1. My family loves this old fridge so any help would be awesome!

You can use a URO41 (AP4503418) start device on this. The compressor pinout on this is common, top, start, bottom left, run, bottom right. Best to check current with an amprobe in case the compressor is drawing high current. I would not use a 3 n 1 on this unless you have to.

I don't have an amprobe, unfortunately. The old relay says 115v 60CY 1/4 HP 4.6amp Thank you Mike

I purchased the relay you suggested and there are instructions on the bag it comes in. I wired the fridge with the (run), (start), and (common) as instructed. But that left me with two lead wires, I assume to power the relay. Out of curiosity I plugged the lead wires into an extension cord, and the fridge ran great. But would not stop running.:confused: There are no connections near the old relay for the lead wires only the (run, start and common). The old relay only has run, start and common, no power leads. Am I wrong in assuming the thermostat must be included in one of those wires? I have contacted some local repair shops, but they run for the hills the moment I explain all this to them... Thanks Mike

You had a set of wires from the fridg that ran to the old relay, they come from the cold control and common. These wires go to the start device, your schematic should show the wires and colors.

I am sorry this fridge is so old there is no wiring diagram, I can't even find one on the web or through GE.
Will it matter which power lead connects to the common and temp control? Or is this not an issue?
Sorry for the dumb question, but I would hate to burn up a relay...

Your new start device is not polarity sensitive, it requires a pair of wires . One from the cold control, the other from the power common.
