Our GE dryer does not fully dry clothes in the auto dry setting. The unit works fine in the timed dry settings.

The timer/pointer apprears to stop around the "Less Dry" setting and shuts off the dryer. The clothes are still very damp.

How is the moisture sensed? Is it via a thermostat or a moisture sensor? How should I proceed to correct the problem?

Thanks

Hi Catbird

GE is very tight with their technical data, so I do not have tech info on that model. If you will take off the back cover of the console you should find some tech notes there that will help you.

Given that the timer stops before the end of the cycle the problem may well be in the timer instead of the moisture sensing system. That timer is relatively inexpensive, so you may want to replace it on spec and see if that solves your problem.

Good luck
