I have a 9 year old Kenmore Elite Side by Side Refrigerator/Freezer Model #106.50503990. Recently it stopped producing ice. You can hear the tray try to drop ice but there is none because the tray does not fill with water. It goes through the process over and over again but no ice. We get water to dispense but no ice forms. I pulled out the unit and checked all tubing. It is not bent or crimped. I took the tubing off and it appears fine. I suspected ice stuck in there but that was not the case. Any suggestions?

The water valve is most likely bad. Remove the front cover off the icemaker and look at the front of the icemaker you should see holes marked with letters. Make you a jumper wire about 6 inches long. Make sure it is insulted or you will get shocked and skin it on both ends about ½ inch or so. Place one end of the wire in the hole marked L and the other in the hole marked V water should run into the icemaker. If not replace the water valve. If you get water when you do this replace the motor/modular. Whirlpool Icemaker Repair Guide
