Hello I'm having issues with my washer with timer advancing. I have to advance it manually. I want to replace the timer but I have no idea how to get it off. So far I took the back cover where all the wires are off and removed all the numbered wires from there terminals. I also pried the dial plate and saw there is 2 srews holding the timer mechanism. But I can't get the knob off to get to the 2 screws. The control plate won't come off without removing knob first. Can please some tell me how this is done because I don't want to force it off and break something. I also wanted to add that my washer is an ealier model from the 1960,s or early 1970,s. Thank You so much

I figured it out. There's alittle cover in front of knob. Just remove and take out clip and good to go.
