If I reconnected the wires to the wrong sides of the thermostat, will the oven operate? If it will operate, what will be the long term damage to unit, if any? Is there a way to look up on which sides the black and yellow wires belong? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

If there is only two wires on the thermostat then it doesn’t matter which side you plug the wires. Range Repair Guide
