You'll like this... I had to repair my dryer last night for poor performance in drying (cleaned ductwork of years of lint). To get to the dryer, I unplugged and moved the washer out of the way, nothing more. I plugged it in 2 hours later but did not try to use it until several hours later.

It is a Kenmore Elite Quiet Pak II Model # 110.23032102 Type 111

Now, when I go to start the washer and pull the knob to start the machine, I am getting a humming sound only instead of the usual filling of the tub to begin the cycle. I tried to see if I get any other operation in the spin cycles, different washer speeds, spin cycles, water levels etc...with the same results.

All it does now is make the humming sound, the sound appears to be coming from the control panel area. I tried to unplug to "reset" the unit but to no avail.
Any suggestions on the issue that I can check into? Thanks.

Sounds like the washer is not getting any water.
Make sure the valves are turned on.

or maybe the fill hoses got kinked when you put the washer back in place.

At work right now...As I think of it... I DID turn off the water valves before moving the washer and did NOT turn them back on (duuuhhhh) after re-positioning it. I'll check later and repost the results.

Let's all be glad I don't work on space shuttles :- )

Thanks very much for the correction and advice. It is much appreciated.

I did not know that water pressure would affect the start of a machine. I will have to read up on how this functions. Thanks A.J. for your wisdom and guidance. Issue resolved!
