GE Profile dishwasher is leaking from the bottom of the tub at the top of the Connector Pump Assembly (part # 455 or GE Part AP3185201 in the motor pump mechanism parts diagram).

This leak starts right when the cycle begins.

I have also checked from the inside down at the Conduit Main (part #450 or GE part AP3710053).

None of these parts appear to be cracked. They appear to be in good condition.

I am planning to pull these parts off, examine more closely, clean up as necessary, and reinstall.

Is there some sort of sealent or putty that I should used when reinstalling?

Am I missing something here and should go another route?

Removing the Connector Pump Assembly (part 455) looks rather daunting since it is attached to the pump and motor. Any words of advice?

Thanks,

Doug

Looks like I have the same problem going on. Did you have difficulty removing the connector assembly? Were any special tools needed for the job. Did the conduit main have to be replaced in conjunction with the connector pump assembly? Appreciate any recommendations on your repair solution and outcome.

Did you have difficulty removing the connector assembly? No, it is pretty easy to get apart. I was concerned at first, but it is pretty straightforward once you get going.

Were any special tools needed for the job. Not really. I think I used vice grips, a wrench, and maybe a couple of screwdrivers.

Did the conduit main have to be replaced in conjunction with the connector pump assembly? I did not replace anything. The materials were relatively new and no evidence of a split. Frankly, I was not impressed how GE mounted the motor or pump. The connection tubes are basically what holds the pump in and one wire holds the motor up. Lots of room for vibrations and the creation of future issues.

Appreciate any recommendations on your repair solution and outcome.

I cleaned up all the connections and tightened them. This helped, but did fully fix the problem.

I changed the angle of the dishwasher so the back was slightly lower than the front. This would help the water run into the pump. This seemed to do the trick.

I stuck a thin old pan (cookie sheet with edges) underneath the dishwasher to keep future water drops off the hardwood floors. Watched if for a week and no real problems. Left the pan under there just in case and figure that any water drops will evaporate (similar to a refrigerator)

6+ months now and no problem - who knows.
