We just moved and re-installed our washing machine and this is the problem we're having:
It will fill with water, but the dial won't move past where you manually put it. For instance if you put it on the heavy duty cycle it won't move past the notch you start it unless you physically move it yourself. It sporadically worked properly for maybe a few cycles but now this problem is pretty much every time. It may still be under warranty but if this is something we can do ourselves I would rather not wait for the repair man.

it seems that the timer has gone call the repairman if it's under warranty that sounds like your best option at this poimt

I ended up trying putting the symptoms a different way in google, which better stated is that the washer filled and drained and that was it. I ended up finding out that the drain hose was too far down the drain pipe, tied an elastic headband around it to hold it in place (the water pressure was pushing it down and we didn't know any better and it was over a foot in!) and now it works GREAT. I'm so glad.
