Make sure all burners are grounded and clean from any grease. Make sure all igniters are not damaged and are in in the correct position in the flame. Check all igniters wiring for damaged insulation. Make sure there is no reversed polarity. Gene.

Rank: Member Groups: Registered Joined: 6/6/2008(UTC) Posts: 3		Thanks, Gene. I had not replaced the machine screws holding the burner "pans" in place because I didn't want to have to remove them again. I've now screwed them in place and it appears to have stopped the malfunction.

Gene, I have a similar problem but at the spark module where the four wires from the burner controls enter, there is also a small metal plate separating 2 of the four control wires. A spark is jumping from one of the control wires on the left of the plate to the plate every 2 second. Do you think that replacing the spark module is a good bet to solve this. Thank you!

The spark module is a kool lite 65644G10 which I replaced today but that didn't solve the problem of the spark going every 30 seconds. Guess I should be more patient. I check the things you mentioned above and it looks OK but will check again. Thanks.

Can you refer it to the break down diagrams, using a reference number? Here are the break down diagrams for the GE cooktop Model JGP336CEV1CC Gene.

Rank: Member Groups: Registered Joined: 8/2/2008(UTC) Posts: 8		Make sure all burners are grounded and clean from any grease. The burner bowles are clean as well as the buner heads. The parts below the glass level are also clean. Make sure all igniters are not damaged and are in in the correct position in the flame. Igniters are in good shape and their position is correct. Check all igniters wiring for damaged insulation. The insulation is good. I see some discoloration on the plastic end where it plugs into the igniter. Make sure there is no reversed polarity. The wires are in the same position as before and after the problem starting. I'm not sure what to do at this point. The only thing missing are the paper washers for the screws that hold the burner bowls into the bracket bowl but it has been fine until now. I tuned all the burners on for about 10 minutes and after that the ingniter firing went from 30 seconds to about 5 minutes but today it is back to 30 seconds. I'm not sure if I should by a multimeter and check every wire? Any help is greatly appreciated.
