We have a side by side Whirlpool fridge and recently discovered that the ice chute had come loose because the ice was falling everywhere when we pushed on it. I had gotten the removable parts off, but it looks like the problem is that one of the holes that holds the pin and the spring has broken off. The piece that's broken off is attached to the fridge, so I'm not even sure it the problem would be solved. I can't get the front of the ice dispenser tray off to look at it more closely. I'm afraid to pry it off in case I break it... Please tell me that this can be fixed and I don't have to pay for a whole new door! Can this be fixed with the ice chute kit?

Any advice anyone can give would be really helpful! Thanks!

I fixed that problem before. I used my portable drill and drilled a small hole in the white plastic housing and screwed a small sheet metal screw in to hold the rod in place, worked out fine. Just think before you drill, make sure the hole will be in the right place to hold the rod in place.
