I read through as many threads as possible and am not sure if this is the same problem others are having.

I have a GE Arctica Side by Side. We keep it in the garage and live in NY.
Last winter our frig side was getting too cold and started freezing things. I turned the temperature setting for the frig side off and it still stayed at about 32 degrees.
Now in the summer, the freezer has risen as high as 22 (it is set to the coldest setting) and has been hovering about 20. The frig section is also warmer than it's setting.

Any ideas if this is related to other problems reported? I don't have a technician to call I trust and do not want to get involved with someone who is guessing (mostly wrong) because they don't really know what the problem is.

Thank you.

The temp in the garage being too hot could have an effect on the summer time problem.

I'm guessing it's two separate problems. The fridge being too cold being a damper related problem with the damper not closing to stop the flow of cold air from the freezer.

The freezer problem- Does your compressor ever cut off when trying to get colder than the 20 degrees. If it does it could be a bad cold control. If it don't

Check to see if the condenser fan at the back underneath near the compressor is running.

Below the evaporator fan in the freezer is the evaporator coils. Remove the back cover in the freezer to observe the frost pattern. Light frost everywhere(NORMAL) or a partial pattern of ice(LOW ON FREON) or nothing(LOW FREON OR COMPRESSOR PROBLEM).

Thank you for your response.

The temperature in the garage is no different than a house without air conditioning in the summer. I am sure it would make the Frig work harder, but should still maintain the temps. It did before this year so something definitely changed.
The winter gets colder, but never really less than the 50's. I attributed the issue to the cold weather when maybe it was something else.

I will look at your other suggestions.

Note-The frig seems to be running all of the time. I have listened and never hear it stop.
