This is a front load maytag washer about ten years old. It will fill with water and start to wash but the door lock light does not come on and the door does not lock so I can actually open the door while the machine is washing? Is this a wax motor? Any ideas??

Here is the service manual on your machine. It does describe a wax motor.

I cannot get any door lock parts to come up on the APP parts lists so I suggest you call them Monday and see what they might have for you.
