This is a front loading washer which runs well until late in the rinse cycle when it stops, and gives the code SUD. This code is supposed to mean that use of traditional detergent has caused excessive suds to form. However the machine has now run perhaps 20 times with no detergent and there is no visual evidence of any suds. The machine did have a problem draining when a quarter got into the pump. I took off the pump and removed the coin. It appeared that there were some small chips in the plastic interior of the pump. The pump does work and will drain the machine if I go to the Drain setting. This is what is necessary to finish a load and get the door open. So maybe I need to change the pump. An alternative explaination is that the sensor has gone bad and needs to be replaced. Is it plausible that a somewhat damaged pump could cause the problem? Is there anyway to check the sensor to see if it is the problem? Any opinion on which is the most likely source of the problem?
