Ok well trying to fix my washer, and im trying to find out how a transmission works, the clutch engages when the thrust washer engages for the spin and works but trying to get it to turn the opposite way with out the clutch engaged it is froze.

So do you think its the clutch or the tranny?
Im pretty mechanical, can the tranny be taken apart?

You have a tranny locked up in agitate= new tranny time, rather rare for Maytag. Rather difficult to do for a Maytag, and expensive.
